Pellucid Labs Industry Research is an independent research group focused on a single question: when will frontier AI systems be able to perform the median software developer's job end-to-end. We maintain PLX-Forecast, a continuously recalibrated forecasting model that fuses capability benchmarks, labor-market telemetry, capital flows, and industry discourse into one number — the projected replacement date.

What we do

We aggregate 47 weighted signals across five families — capability, commercial, workforce, capital, and discourse — and recompute the full posterior every minute. The methodology, signal taxonomy, and calibration history are documented on the methodology page.

Pellucid Labs is not affiliated with any AI vendor, cloud provider, or staffing firm. The forecast is not sponsored content and is not adjusted for commercial partners. Where the site carries partner links, they are labeled as such and have no input into the model.
